A study by Heilo et al determined that ultrasonography-guided percutaneous ethanol injections were an excellent alternative to surgery in patients with a limited number of neck metastases from papillary thyroid carcinoma. The authors suggest that this strategy could replace “berry picking” surgery. [57]
