Answer

Indeed, the American Thyroid Association has recommended that the encapsulated follicular variant of PTC (eFVPTC) without capsular or vascular invasion be reclassified as noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP). [2] Recurrence of NIFTP is extremely rare, even in patients treated with surgery alone, without radioactive iodine therapy, and ceasing to classify it as a cancer may help clinicians avoid unnecessary aggressive treatment.
