Chemotherapy regimens that have been studied in combination with radiation therapy include cisplatin/vinblastine and cisplatin/etoposide (5-y survival of 15%). [128] In elderly patients or those with comorbidities and contraindications to cisplatin, weekly carboplatin/paclitaxel may be used, based on a phase II study that showed a median survival of 16.7 months.
