WHO divides epithelial lung tumors into preinvasive lesions and invasive malignant lesions. Preinvasive lesions include the following:

  • Squamous dysplasia/carcinoma in situ

  • Atypical adenomatous hyperplasia

  • Diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine hyperplasia
