There are several methods of confirming diagnosis, with the choice determined partly by lesion location. These methods include the following:

  • Bronchoscopy

  • Sputum cytology

  • Mediastinoscopy

  • Thoracentesis

  • Thoracoscopy

  • Transthoracic needle biopsy (CT- or fluoroscopy-guided)
