What is the Yuzpe regimen for emergency contraception?

The Yuzpe regimen is one of the first methods studied for emergency contraception but is less common now with the availability of the options mentioned above. The patient takes additional doses of her own prescribed birth control pills. The regimens for the various methods can be found at www.bedsider.org. This method is associated with side effects of nausea, vomiting, and possibly spotting, breast tenderness and headaches.
