Pelvic examination should evaluate for the following:

  • Presence of external genital lesions

  • Vaginal or cervical discharge

  • Uterine size, shape, and contour

  • Cervical motion tenderness

  • Adnexal tenderness or masses (especially in patients older than 40 years)
