Typical symptoms of BV include the following:

  • Vaginal odor (the most common, and often initial, symptom of BV); often recognized only after sexual intercourse

  • Mildly to moderately increased vaginal discharge

  • Vulvar irritation (less common)

  • Dysuria or dyspareunia (rare)
