For patients with ATN, the in-hospital survival rate is approximately 50%, with about 30% of patients surviving for 1 year. Factors associated with an increased mortality rate include the following:

  • Poor nutritional status
  • Male sex
  • Oliguria
  • Need for mechanical ventilation
  • Acute myocardial infarction
  • Stroke
  • Seizures
