Causes of fungal meningitis include the following:

  • Cryptococcus

  • C immitis

  • H capsulatum

  • Candida species

  • S schenckii (rarely)

Immune compromise is a predisposing factor in many of these cases and is often a consideration in the selection of treatment regimens.
