When is an intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor indicated in meningitis?

Placement of an ICP monitor should be considered in comatose patients or those with signs of increased ICP. With elevated ICP, CSF should be removed until pressure decreases by 50%; ICP should then be maintained at less than 300 mm H2 O.
