Brain parenchymal damage is the most important and feared complication of bacterial meningitis. It can lead to the following disorders:

  • Sensory and motor deficits

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Learning disabilities

  • Mental retardation

  • Cortical blindness

  • Seizures
