Vaginal pH may be determined by touching a swab containing vaginal secretions to pH indicator paper.

A normal pH practically excludes the diagnosis of symptomatic trichomoniasis. A pH greater than 4.5 is usually found with trichomoniasis. [61] However, an elevation in pH is not specific for trichomoniasis. [57]
