To minimize acquiring head lice, during epidemics of head lice, children should be educated not to share combs, brushes, headbands, hats, and scarves. [6] Hats and scarves should not be piled in a common area, but rather separated for each child. [6] Shaving of hair is effective treatment of head lice, but not socially acceptable in most societies.
