If conservative or pharmacologic treatment of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve entrapment is not helpful, surgical exploration may be required. This may include transection of the nerve or decompression with or without neurolysis. [56, 57] Anatomic variations of the nerve and neuromas can occur and may lead to recurrence. [58]
