Prevention of spasticity consists of the alleviation or treatment of precipitating factors, such as the following:

  • Pressure areas

  • Infections (eg, bladder, toenail, ear, or skin infections)

  • Deep venous thrombosis

  • Constipation

  • Bladder distention

  • Fatigue

  • Cold
