In addition to the differential diagnoses, the following are diagnostic considerations:

  • Superficial mycoses (tinea versicolor)
  • Birthmarks and scars
  • Granuloma multiforme
  • Lupus erythematosus 
  • Pityriasis rosacia
  • Diabetes mellitus (neuropathy)
