Specific agents used in treatment include the following:

  • IV volume expansion - Normal saline or Ringer lactate
  • Calcium
  • Glucagon
  • Vasopressors (eg, dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine)
  • High-dose insulin/euglycemia (HIE) therapy
  • Lipid emulsion therapy

Cardiac pacing may be required.
