Other problems (ie, atypical CSD) occur in approximately 10% of cases. Atypical manifestations of CSD include the following (see also Table 2, below):

  • Parinaud oculoglandular syndrome

  • Central nervous system (CNS) involvement

  • Hepatosplenic CSD

  • Endocarditis

  • Osteomyelitis

  • Joint pain (arthritis, synovitis)

  • Respiratory complaints (atypical pneumonitis)

  • Dermatologic manifestations
