Answer

The prognosis for immunocompetent patients with CSD is excellent. Complete recovery without sequelae occurs in nearly all patients. Significant morbidity occurs in 5-10% of cases, usually because of involvement of the central or peripheral nervous system or because of multisystem disseminated disease. Even in patients with CNS involvement, however, recovery without neurologic sequelae within weeks to months can be expected. Death caused by CSD in patients who are immunocompetent is extremely rare.
