The goals of pharmacotherapy in those with factor X deficiency are to reduce morbidity and to prevent complications. The following agents are used:

  • Fresh frozen plasma and prothrombin complex concentrates may be used to increase factor X levels
  • Supplemental vitamin K may be effective in acquired factor X deficiency related to vitamin K deficiency
  • Factor X, human (Coagadex) has been approved in the United States for hereditary factor X deficiency
