Specimen details are as follows:

  • Specimen type - Serum

  • Collection container/tube - Red top preferred, serum gel acceptable

  • Submission container/tube - Plastic vial

  • Specimen volume - 1 mL, minimum volume 0.4 mL

  • Collection instructions - Fasting; draw specimen before 10 am

  • Reject in cases of gross hemolysis

  • Specimen stability - 14 days frozen (preferred), 72 hours refrigerated
