Factor V is decreased in the following congenital conditions:

  • Inherited autosomal deficiency

  • Bleeding in homozygotes

Factor V is also decreased in the following acquired conditions:

  • Liver disease

  • Pathologic fibrinolysis

  • Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)
