Myelodysplastic syndrome–unclassified (MDS-U) criteria are as follows:

  • Blood: cytopenias, ±1% blasts on at least 2 occasions

  • Bone marrow: unilineage dysplasia or no dysplasia but characteristic MDS cytogenetics, < 5% blasts
