Several conditions can cause false-positive EIA results, as follows:

  • Technical error

  • Pregnancy [25]

  • Recipient of HIV-1 vaccines [26]

  • Recent immunizations (eg, rabies [27] , influenza [28] )

  • Other infections such as hepatitis B [29] and schistosomiasis [30]
