Usual doses for folic acid therapy are age based, as follows:

  • Younger than 6 months: 0.1 mg/day
  • Ages 6 months to 1 year: 0.25 mg/day
  • Ages 1-2 years: 0.5 mg/day
  • Older than 2 years: 1 mg/day
