Laboratory tests, along with appropriate imaging studies, may facilitate the diagnosis of necrotizing fasciitis. [51, 52] Laboratory evaluation should include the following:

  • Complete blood count with differential

  • Serum chemistry studies

  • Arterial blood gas measurement

  • Urinalysis

  • Blood and tissue cultures
