Treatment for hypoglycemia is as follows:

  • Decrease multiplier by 0.01 as stated above.

  • Administer D50W by intravenous push.

  • Recheck blood glucose levels in 15 minutes.

  • Resume hourly blood glucose monitoring and insulin drip adjustments.
