Postoperative care includes continued fluid resuscitation and antibiotic therapy as guided by the patient’s clinical condition. Possible postoperative complications include the following:

  • Surgical wound infection (8-12%)
  • Anastomotic leakage (3-7%)
  • Colocutaneous fistula (2-3%)
  • Abdominal or pelvic abscess (1-7%)
  • Sepsis (2%)
