For non-gastric MALT lymphomas, radiotherapy is preferred but surgery is also an appropriate treatment (and in most cases is required to make the diagnosis). Further treatment may not be needed. When the tumor is incompletely excised, radiotherapy should be considered. In the minority of patients presenting with a more widespread disease, systemic chemotherapy is effective. The majority of stage III-IV MALT lymphomas respond to treatment similar to that for follicular lymphoma. [27]
