Anticoagulation is advised in patients receiving either thalidomide or lenalidomide regimens, due to the high incidence of venous thrombosis observed. [52]  A guideline from the American Society of Clinical Oncology recommends that patients who are receiving thalidomide- or lenalidomide-based regimens with chemotherapy and/or dexamethasone be offered prophylaxis with either aspirin or low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) if they are at lower risk, or with LMWH if they are at higher risk.
