Tests to diagnose hemolysis include the following:

  • Complete blood cell count (CBC) and reticulocyte count
  • Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level
  • Indirect and direct bilirubin level
  • Serum haptoglobin level
  • Urinalysis for hematuria
  • Urinary hemosiderin
  • Peripheral blood smear
