Answer

In a study of immunosuppressive therapy with cyclosporine alone, response rates were 45% overall, 16% for VSSA, 47% for SAA, and 85% for moderate aplastic anemia. [95] The only predictor of response to cyclosporine was an absolute neutrophil count (ANC) of less than 200/mm3. A prospective study from India concluded that for resource-poor patients, cyclosporine monotherapy, in a dosage of 5 mg/kg/day, is a relatively safe treatment option for aplastic anemia. [96]
