Answer

Kulasekararaj and colleagues reported that the presence of somatic mutations (including ASXL1DNMT3A, and BCOR) in patients with aplastic anemia for more than 6 months was associated with 40% risk of transformation to MDS. Nearly a fifth of patients with aplastic anemia have mutations in genes typically seen in myeloid malignancies that predicted for later transformation to MDS. [55]
