What causes familial aplastic anemia?

This is an isolated aplastic anemia. Mutations have been found in the TERC and TERT genes and are thought to confer a susceptibility to aplastic anemia. These genes encode proteins that are part of the telomerase apparatus that restores repeated regions in the telomere. [34]
