Elevated AAA wall tension is a significant predictor of impending rupture (see Etiology). Accordingly, the clinician may wish to achieve acute blood pressure control in patients with AAA and elevated blood pressure; agents commonly used include antihypertensive agents and analgesics. Fillinger et al reported that stress analysis, using three-dimensional (3D) computer models of AAAs reconstructed from CT data, offers a practical and feasible method for evaluating AAA rupture risk.
