Mayer et al conducted a randomized study of three different doses of cytarabine in patients with AML who achieved remission after standard 3 and 7 induction chemotherapy. [50] Patients received four courses of cytarabine at one of the following dosages:

  • 100 mg/m 2/d by continuous infusion for 5 days
  • 400 mg/m 2/d by continuous infusion for 5 day
  • 3 g/m 2 in a 3-hour infusion every 12 hours on days 1, 3, and 5
