Answer

Answer

Cryptococcal meningitis may recur after treatment. Without maintenance therapy, 50-70% of patients relapse within 1 year.

The rate decreases to 2-7% in patients treated with long-term fluconazole.

CMV ventriculoencephalitis also may recur.
