The ACOG released guidelines for breast cancer risk assessment and screening in average-risk women in 2017. [180] For women at average risk, ACOG categorizes its recommendations as follows:

  • Level A – Based on good and consistent scientific evidence
  • Level B – Based on limited or inconsistent scientific evidence
  • Level C – Based primarily on consensus and expert opinion
