Answer

An observational study using data from the SEER–Medicare linked database on 35,947 women aged 66 years and older who had invasive breast cancer (79.9%) or DCIS (20.1%) determined that standard EBRT was associated with a higher 5-year breast preservation rate than either lumpectomy alone or brachytherapy was. [121, 122, 123] However, the study data did not reflect use of the newest forms of brachytherapy, a limitation that may reduce the real-world applicability of these findings.
