Answer

A systematic review by Kahn et al found that in patients with acute DVT, early walking exercise is safe and may help to reduce acute symptoms and that in patients with previous DVT, exercise training does not increase leg symptoms acutely and may help to prevent or improve the postthrombotic syndrome.
