Answer

Among patients with PE, 938 had right ventricular dysfunction, as assessed by measurement of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels. [132] There was a 3.3% rate of recurrent VTE in this subgroup in those who received edoxaban compared to 6.2% in the group that received warfarin. The investigators concluded that edoxaban was not only noninferior to high-quality standard warfarin therapy but also caused significantly less bleeding in a broad spectrum of patients with VTE, including those with severe PE.
