Answer

Bezlotoxumab is a human monoclonal antibody that binds to C difficile toxin B and neutralizes its effects. It is used with the standard of care antibiotics to reduce recurrence of CDI in adults who are at a high risk of recurrence. Approval was based on the results from the global MODIFY I and MODIFY II studies that showed a single dose of bezlotoxumab is superior to placebo in the prevention of CDI recurrence through 12 weeks (P = 0.0003 for both trials).
