Answer

Answer

The borderline between covert and overt hepatic encephalopathy is being redrawn. Until recent years, the term "overt" hepatic encephalopathy was applied to patients with grades 1 through 4 encephalopathy. Now, patients with grades 0 and 1 hepatic encephalopathy are said to be "covert"; patients with grades 2 through 4 hepatic encephalopathy are said to be "overt." [26, 30]
