Answer

Answer

Postpartum tubal sterilization is indicated in any patient who is medically stable after a vaginal delivery (usually within 48 hours) and desires permanent contraception. The patient should have been properly counseled about the procedure (see Patient Education and Informed Consent). Consideration must also be given to regulations regarding timing of consent [5] and adequacy of staff to perform an elective procedure.
