Answer

A study published in Neurology found that laser shoes can improve freezing episodes in patients with PD. The shoes are specially designed to emit a laser beam on the ground ahead, providing a visual cue to the patient and a target to aim for. In the study, the shoes cut freezing episodes and their overall duration by 49.5% when patients were off medication and 37.7% when patients were on medication.
