Answer

Answer

Procedure Planning

Patients who undergo a mastectomy have the option for immediate or delayed reconstruction using autologous tissue or implants. Prior to the mastectomy, patients should be referred to a plastic surgeon. The decision for immediate or delayed reconstruction is made based on the need for postmastectomy radiation and surgeon preference. [12]
