Which deep (muscle stretch) reflexes are assessed in electrodiagnostic medicine?

The following reflexes are listed according to muscle, root, trunk, cord, and nerve.

  • Biceps—C5, C6—Upper lateral musculocutaneous nerve

  • Brachioradialis—C5, C6—Upper posterior radial nerve

  • Pronator—C6, C7—Upper/middle lateral median nerve

  • Triceps—C7, C8—Middle/low posterior radial nerve

  • Quadriceps—L2, L3, L4—Upper lumbar femoral nerve

  • Hamstrings—L4, L5, S1—Lower lumbosacral sciatic (tibial division) nerve

  • Gastroc-soleus—L5, S1, S2—Lower lumbosacral tibial nerve
