Patients with peptic ulcer disease should be warned of known or potentially injurious drugs and agents. Some examples are as follows:

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

  • Aspirin

  • Alcohol

  • Tobacco

  • Caffeine (eg, coffee, tea, colas)
