Repeat paracentesis is not required in SBP if the patient has advanced cirrhosis with signs and symptoms of infection, a positive bacterial isolate with monomicrobial typical organism, and a good response to treatment. [30] If the course is atypical, repeat paracentesis should be performed in 48 hours.
